Why paper?
In a world of mobile app I imagine seem quite strange to use paper wallets. Bitcoin is natively digital, so the paper it’s something far far away from it. So why?
There’s not a single reason. Some are techical and some are purely personal.
Starting from the personal ones, the most important is that I like a lot contrasts, so the marriage between the most technological payment system with a very old medium is something that I like a lot. The idea to be able to put small and big amount of value on a tiny qrcode printed on a piece of paper makes me quite excited, I love when technology and tradition work well together.
Another reason is that is another way to link the ephemereal nature of Bitcoin to the material status of the paper. Just like the POW (Proof Of Work) tight the value to actual real work. I think it’s just another way to make Bitcoin a bit more tangible.
And then the technical reason. Paper wallets don’t need to be updated, they contains plain simnple private keys. They need to be kept carefully, not to be shared with everyone, but I think it’s one of the simplest and most secure way to store Bitocoin for a long time.
So.. why not? It’s not difficult to store and retrieve Bitcoin to and from a paper wallet, and with BSV, with the super low transaction fees, you’ll discover that can be also quite funny.
